Allowances for students with children
The Universitätsbund Göttingen and the Studentenwerk help needy students with children in special financial emergency situations. You can inform yourself about financial assistance at the social services.
Literature for the study is expensive, therefore, we offer you a financial allowance in the form of a book grant. It is intended as a compensation for the expenses of books purchased in the respective discipline. 50% of the invoice amount will be reimbursed, up to a maximum of 150.00 Euro.
Application period for a book grant for the bachelor's degree program are semesters 1 to 6 and for master's programs semesters 1 to 4. Accordingly, the proof of purchase must be dated. For study courses with the study goal State Examination/Diploma/Magister, the application period is from semester 1 to 10.
The application forms are available in the social services during opening hours.
You can find out more about the book allowance from the issuance guidelines (only in German, for further information please contact the social service directly).
Allowance for free meals in our canteens
Students in a difficult financial situation can receive a subsidy for canteen meals - a donation which finances food in the canteen for a month.
More information and the application:
Eligible to apply are: Students at Georg-August-University, the University of Applied Sciences Hildesheim/Holzminden/Göttingen, the University of Applied Sciences (HAWK) and the privat University of Applied Sciences Göttingen (PFH) who are in financial distress.
Recipients of BAföG funding will not receive this support unless they can prove that they are in special financial despite this funding.
If you want to apply, please use the application form. Copies of bank statements from the last two month and a valid certificate of enrollment must be enclosed for processing and means testing. Furthermore, a declaration of the emergency and the difficult financial situation is required.
The free table is a subsidy, therefore cash payment is impossible. The equivalent value of the free tables granted is loaded onto the chip card for cashless payment in the canteen. There is no legal entitlement to receive free tables.
The social service of the Studentenwerk awards individual allowances for necessary medical aids and aids or tooth preservation/dentures, insofar as the health insurance companies do not fully cover the costs.
Other help in individual cases
Our social service tries to help all students. Please describe your personal situation, explain and provide evidence of your financial emergency.
